Very old devices will stop getting security updates altogether.

If you’re getting official warnings that your device is outdated, it means you’re much more vulnerable to malware. 

The longer your device goes without security updates, the more vulnerable it will become.

Sometimes we can update our devices to the latest operating system. For example, we might be able to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. 

In cases when we can’t do this, it leaves us with a tough decision.

Do we buy a new device? Or do we accept the risk?

There’s no easy answer to this. All we can say is that if your device has stopped receiving security updates, you need to be extra careful.
