Most of them are harmless. But once in a while, you’ll find an advert that causes real damage.

Internet ads can sometimes trick your computer into doing something it shouldn’t.

For example, they could redirect you from an innocent website to one run by criminals.

Some of the nastier ones can download malware to your device, without you needing to do anything.
