Any Gmail user can access their security settings by clicking here, but they should look a bit like the picture above.

Each item on the right represents either a way we can secure our account, or a way we can recover it if things go wrong.

On this screen, we can register a recovery phone number or email address. These provide an alternate way of getting into your emails if you get locked out.

They’re also used by Google to notify you if there’s suspicious activity on your account.
